So, we're
your teachers.
We love to dance!
Together we have about six years dancing experience, so we have what
you need right now, Salsa knowhow. That comes from working with the
prestigious dance professionals at Encuentro Latino in York. We're
waiting for you to come and join us and experience the excitement of
Salsa! |
Becky
originally trained in ballet and tap at a young age before
concentrating on her academic studies. She later moved into performance
and music theatre during her school years.
Initially
she trained in New York Cross-Body On1 Salsa with Russ Potter of www.mambostepsalsa.co.uk before
she moved to York. Since then she has been training with
professionals, Joel and Sarah Chapman at the Rock Academy of Dance in
Ballroom and Latin styles of dance and has received tuition from Strictly Come Dancing
professionals; Nicole and Matthew Cutler.
Her current
Salsa training is in New York Cross Body On2, with
internationally recognised professionals Gareth and Laucinda Roberts of
Encuentro Latino. It is this style that Becky now teaches at Oaklands
Sports Centre, Acomb.
Niall's passion for
Salsa was ignited as soon as he arrived in York in 2002 to begin
studying as a Primary Teacher. With this move, he left a background in
Martial Arts to begin his Salsa training with Laucinda and Gareth.
Niall
continues to invest in this training by attending weekly lessons and
socials with Laucinda and Gareth and now dances at an Advanced
Semi-Professional level.
In February
2006, Niall was invited to prepare and perform a 'Fred and
Ginger' style ballroom dance with fellow advanced student Annabel
Jelley. They wowed the 200 strong audience in full Hollywood glamour
style. Since then, Niall has worked with Becky Smith, Helen Boyes and
Suzanne Jaconelli choreographing demonstrations of Salsa to perform and
teach professionally at functions and private classes. Niall has loved
teaching weekly Salsa classes with Helen Boyes this year for York
university Dance Society and looks forward to continuing the classes
with Becky Smith when they resume after the 2007 summer break. |
